How to reset the WordPress admin password

If you have lost or forgotten the password to your Dashboard, you can read in this article about a couple of ways on how to reset it.

One solution is to click on the link Lost your password? on the Wordpress login page. You have to know your user name and the email account used in the administration panel. Once you click on the link, you have to type your user name or email and Wordpress will send you an email message with a link. Open the mail, click on the link and on the page that's displayed type a new password. Then click on Reset Password and you can log in with your new password.

Another way is to reset the password from the Wordpress database by using phpMyAdmin. For this method you don't need to know your user name or email. You can open phpMyAdmin from the Databases section of the Pixie control panel. Find and click on the database where Wordpress is installed. Then find the table wp_users (the prefix might be different) click on its Browse icon and once inside the wp_users table click on the Edit icon (looks like a pencil). There, in the user_pass row, delete the current password, type a new one (at least 7 characters long; its case sensitive) and from the drop-down menu select MD5. If you want to, you can also change your user name (user_login). When you're done click on Go and that's it. You can log in to your Dashboard with the new password.
