How to add and edit static pages in Magento

To add and edit CMS static pages, log in to the admin panel of your Magento store and go to CMS menu>Pages. This will show a table with configured pages. Every Magento installation comes with a few static pages like about us, customer service, etc. To edit a page click on its row in the table, to add a new one click on the Add New Page button in the upper right corner. In both cases you'll see on the left a few buttons, each of them displaying various page settings.

The first one is Page Information. It displays a few general settings from which you can configure the title of the page, the URL path of the page relative to the base URL address, and the status of the page.

The next button is Content. Click on it to specify the content heading of the page and to insert the content itself with the help of the built-in text editor.

You can use the Design button to change the layout and the theme of the page. The Design button displays two sections: Page Layout and Custom Design. From the Page Layout section you can change the number of columns displayed on the page and you can insert custom XML code. From the Custom Design section you can set a theme for the page from any of the installed ones; it can be a theme different than the default store theme. If you want to, you can specify a particular period for which that theme will be active, and you can also specify a custom layout (number of columns). The custom layout will overwrite the one specified in the Page Layout section.

The last button is Meta Data. The meta options are for search engine optimization. You can list keywords relevant to the page and you can type a description to be used on search result pages.

After you're done click on the Save Page button in the upper right corner.
