How to remove the authoring information from articles and other content types in Drupal

By default, in Drupal some content types are configured to show the author and submission date of every item (node) from that content type that is published. One such example is the article content type that comes preconfigured with Drupal. This authoring information is shown to all visitors on your site.

If you want to, you can choose to hide the authoring information. You can do this by editing the settings of the particular content type. Log in to the admin panel of your Drupal, click on the Structure tab in the top navigation bar, and on the page that is shown click on Content types. On the next page click on the edit button for the particular content type (e.g. article). This will display the general settings for that content type. Scroll to the bottom of the page and on the left you'll see several buttons. Click on the Display settings button and a checkbox labeled Display author and date information will appear on the right. Unmark the checkbox and click on the Save content type button at the bottom of the page. This will disable the authoring information for all nodes of that content type that will be published in the future, and it will remove the authoring information from existing ones.
